Windesi — In a spirit of joy and fellowship, the Mission and Medical Tour Team arrived in Windesi District on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The visit was part of a series of events commemorating the centenary of Domine I.S. Kijne’s prophecy, which will culminate on October 25, 2025.

The team arrived around 10:00 a.m. local time and was warmly welcomed by the district government, the Windesi Classis Executive Board (BPK Windesi), and members of congregations from across the region. The opening worship service was held at the Preparatory Congregation of GKI Yauna Papoto Yauna Bepui Kamadiri–Windesi, led by Candidate Minister Paulus Kapisa, S.Si., Teol. His sermon, based on Jeremiah 34:8–22 and titled “Love That Never Breaks a Promise,” emphasized that true love is steadfast and faithful, just as God’s covenant love never fails His people.

The worship service was filled with gratitude and reverence as participants celebrated the arrival of the team, whose mission combined evangelism and health outreach. The Windesi District Government expressed deep appreciation for the event, recognizing it as a meaningful manifestation of the church’s presence in the community. Meanwhile, the BPK Windesi shared insights on the current state of ministry and the historical development of the Gospel in the Teluk Wondama region, particularly its spread to Windesi and Miei.

Rev. Dr. Anthon Rumbewas, chair of the tour delegation, expressed heartfelt thanks for the warm hospitality and fellowship shown by the people of Windesi. He also highlighted the beauty of Kamadiri Hill — its breathtaking scenery serving as a perfect backdrop for the spiritual encounter between visitors and local believers. The team consisted of pastors, lecturers from STFT GKI I.S. Kijne Jayapura, alumni from STFT and Cenderawasih University, representatives from the Port Numbay Classis KPKC, P3W Jayapura, as well as medical professionals and doctors from the Medics Without Borders community.

After the service, the medical and health team explained the technical aspects of the health outreach and the upcoming evangelism exhibition. The group was then invited to visit the historic Kamadiri Hill site — a key location in the early history of Gospel proclamation in Teluk Wondama — which preserves various symbols and artifacts of the early missionary movement.

The day continued with free medical check-ups for the community, drawing enthusiastic participation from both children and adults. At the courtyard of GKI J.A. Van Balen Windesi, an Evangelism Exhibition was held, featuring a variety of educational and inspirational materials about the history and mission of the church.

The exhibition showcased themes such as Revitalizing Kijne’s Education for the New Generation of Papua, The Inspiration and Works of I.S. Kijne, Sunday School programs, ASM creativity classes, pastoral counseling, GKI’s confession of faith, church sacraments, hymnology, partner church activities, liturgy, catechism curriculum, devotional practices, and the role of coastal ecosystems in addressing global warming. The latter was presented by the KPKC team and Uncen alumni focusing on environmental conservation in Papua.

One church member, a mother who attended the event, expressed her deep gratitude for receiving free medical services. She shared that this kind of ministry reflects the true love of God — a love that serves and heals without boundaries.

The Windesi Classis demonstrated excellent preparation in welcoming the delegation and coordinating the entire program until the guests continued their journey to Rumberpon Classis the following day. Windesi also affirmed its readiness to take part in the upcoming centenary celebration of Domine I.S. Kijne, committing to carry forward his legacy of faith, education, and service for the future of the church in Papua.

The Mission and Medical Tour Team will depart for Rumberpon Island on October 19, 2025, and later continue to Roswar Island, carrying the same spirit of faith and renewal as part of this historic centennial celebration.
