Joint Youth Fellowship of Region II, Windesi Classis raised an important theme that is often forgotten amid the spirit of freedom and modern lifestyle: that youth is a beautiful season, but not without responsibility.

Through the Word of God from Ecclesiastes 11:9–10 and 12:1–14, Rev. Donatus Waney reminded us that God does not forbid young people from rejoicing in their youth. In fact, youth are called to fully enjoy life. However, it must be done with the awareness that every choice we make will be held accountable before God.

This passage of Scripture brings three important reflections:

  1. Youthful freedom must be accompanied by spiritual responsibility.
"Rejoice, young man, in your youth... but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment." (Eccl. 11:9)

  2. Don’t wait until you're old to remember God.
We are urged to “remember your Creator in the days of your youth,” because the time will come when our strength, energy, and time are no longer the same. (Eccl. 12:1)

  3. A righteous life begins with the fear of the Lord.
The conclusion of all the teaching is this: “Fear God and keep His commandments.” (Eccl. 12:13)

Rev. Waney also advised the youth to guard themselves in the face of globalization trends that are increasingly captivating, and to use technology (especially social media) wisely and spiritually. This includes learning to assess and respond critically to the various issues faced in the context of life in Papua.

This Joint Youth Fellowship was attended by 36 young delegates from several congregations within Region II of the Windesi Classis, including: GKI Elim Tamoge, GKI Efata Werianggi, GKI Betel Werabur, and GKI Ora et Labora Mamisi. All youth participants were encouraged to see that this gathering was not just a routine event, but an invitation to reflect and reorient their lives as Christian youth.

Is our current way of life pleasing to God? Are we merely chasing worldly pleasures, or are we seriously building a life of eternal value?

Through this Youth Fellowship, all participants were strengthened, enlightened, and equipped to live out their youth in a way that is not only exciting, but also meaningful and purposeful in the eyes of God.

“Youth is a gift, but living responsibly is a choice.”
